Vox deputy in the Aragon Cortes, Carmen Rouco, has described as a «deafening and atrocious silence for the people of Aragon» the fact that the director of the Aragon Institute for Women, María Antoñanzas, «has avoided answering about the nationalities of the victims and aggressors» during the press conference she held this Monday on the occasion of the new awareness campaign of the IAM.
Consequently, Rouco has stated that «the Government of Aragon has data on people from cultures incompatible with ours who are assaulting women in Aragon, but they prefer to hide it from society because they do not have a commitment to firmly tackle the real perpetrators.»
At the same time, Rouco has accused Antoñanzas of «criminalizing the people of Aragon without any evidence, by saying that the entire Aragonese society should be aware of what sexual violence means.»
«Furthermore, the evidence shows that the people of Aragon are not the profiles of sexual offenders,» she explained, referring to the annual report of the Observatory against Domestic and Gender Violence, in which «foreigners are convicted four to five times more than Spaniards in the Courts of Violence against Women and Criminal Courts.»
She referred to the current Vox spokesperson, Alejandro Nolasco, who did inform about this while he was the Justice Councilor of the Government of Aragon, «but since the PP governs alone, they have not informed or valued this data.»
Rouco has pointed out that «Antoñanzas has reported that 236 people have been assisted in the CAIVIS» in the first half of the year. «Who are these 236 alleged aggressors? What nationality are they? Where do they come from? What is their origin?» she asked the regional government.
«REPEATED PROFILES»
The Vox deputy has insisted that «the Government of Aragon prepares the report on the repeated profiles of sexual offenders,» as it «was a commitment of the August 2023 Government agreement that made Azcón the President of the Government of Aragon and was also approved in a Vox initiative.» «Is the PP afraid of the truth?» she expressed.
Rouco has affirmed that «only by identifying the repeated profiles of offenders can the most effective measures be taken to combat the criminals who denigrate and mistreat women.»
She made it clear that all criminals «deserve the maximum rejection and condemnation, whoever they may be.» The Vox parliamentarian added that «the installation of up to a maximum of 63 purple points in Aragon is totally absurd and a superfluous expense, because no aggressor will voluntarily go there to request sensitivity training.»
